Madrid

Although Madrid is the capital of Spain, it has long been in the shadow of Barcelona regrding gay  life. Over the last  years, the city  has stepped out  of the shadow and today, the Chueca is the center of urban gay life. Traditionally in Spain, dinner is late and nightlife does not tune up before midnight. So if you stay in town, we suggest that you stay in the Chueca area (01. Centro district). Madrid satisfies all fantasies and tastes from trendy clubs (Delirio, Escape) to more cruisy bars (Leather).

Madrid has much more to offer than the gay scene. Besides the imperial architecture and the Plaza de Major, there are the world famous Prado and the  Reina Sofia are a must for every visitor, featuring work from Picasso, Miro, Antonio Saura and Eduardo Chillida. 

When to travel: Madrid is popular for the whole year, but beware that winters can be cold if the wind sets in from the Sierra Nevada.
